How To Rock Color With Confidence

What’s a common style mishap I see most in this new normal of Zoom life?

Wearing unflattering colors that don’t represent the true YOU or complement your complexion. So many are hesitant about color, simply because they don’t know how to make it work for them. I get it. That’s why I happily get to do what I do! Trust me, embrace color, and your style confidence blooms.

Every woman should define what I call her “Signature Power Palette.”

Power colors are different for each person, depending on personality and complexion. When helping clients identify their own style, how to wear color is a big part of that. The strategic placement and use of color can speak volumes.

Your Signature Power Palette can be a fun and powerful expression of your personality AND can make YOU stand out. However, color doesn’t always have to be bright and bold to make a statement.

No matter your age, body type, or profession, these top three tips will help you rock color in a way that represents your best self virtually and in person!

COLOR CONFIDENCE!

  • Know Your Undertone

  • Neutral Essentials + Power Colors

  • Don’t Forget That Face

1. Know Your Undertone

You are “warm” if your skintone has greenish or yellowish undertones.   Think of shades of sunshine and fire; colors along that spectrum will complement this skin tone well.   You’re “cool” if you have blueish undertones.  Undertones have nothing to do with ethnicity.  You can be very fair or very dark and have blueish undertones.  Think of bright and muted jewel tones to compliment your complexion.  You’re “neutral” if you can’t really tell or fall in between.  Anything too bright can overwhelm “neutral” undertones.  Instead try neutral colors in the middle of the color spectrum: salmon, olive greens, and off whites would be a good choice for a “neutral.”

2. Neutral Essentials + Power Colors = Versatility

When it comes to creating a simplified wardrobe you want to start with the base colors for your main essentials (what you wear the most)   Next, add 3-5 colors within your Signature Power Palette to make your wardrobe versatile.

Imagine mixing and matching with ease and taking little to no time to decide what actually goes together?!  #wardrobegoals

3. Don’t Forget That Face!

Your Signature Power Palette also translates to that beautiful face! With more business being conducted virtually and getting up close and personal, your face is even more important. The right colored frames of glasses, gold or silver jewelry, and flattering minimal makeup make a world of difference. I always suggest playing up your eyes OR your lips, not both at the same time.

Don’t be afraid of a little color on your lips.  It brightens your face on camera.  However, the fact is, when it comes to being on camera, what may seem “strong” to you in the mirror can come out much softer and sometimes even nonexistent on camera.  Consider using a shade or two brighter/bolder than you normally would wear for your lips.

Keep in mind these tips are general guidelines.  At the end of the day, I encourage women to wear what makes you feel your best, and radiates the real YOU.

We have less than seven seconds to make that great first impression, whether virtually or in real life.  Make those seconds count!
