Finally, 3 Tips To Find The Perfect Pair of Jeans!

How can something so basic and abundant be so hard to find!  Having the perfect pair of jeans compliment your wardrobe, is like peanut butter complimenting jelly … they just fit.

But why does finding that perfect pair seem like a life long challenge?  Believe me, I feel you, and so do most women.  However, it doesn’t have to be that way.  Just like anything else in life, having a plan of attack will make it that much easier.

Here are 3 ESBA (Elevated Style By Aliya) tips to help you get there.  In life, we all deserve at least a comfortable pair of great fitting jeans, right?!

1. Pay attention to the fabric

Aside from fit and style, the ultimate feel good goal is comfort.  The worst is wearing something that looks good, but feels horrible on.   Or alternatively, putting on a pair of “great fitting” jeans in the morning, to only find saggy knees and a low hanging waist by the end of the day.

We want structure, but not too stiff and rigid.  We also want stretchy comfort, but not a saggy jeggings look.  Stick to jeans that have fabric blends with a high percent of cotton denim (95-98%), and a low stretch blend (2 – 5%).  There’s your sweet spot.

Elevated Style Tip … A little yoga in the dressing room anyone?  Try a few active positions to test.  If the jeans immediately get looser around the thighs and knees, move on to another option.  You want jeans with strong recovery.  Who knew a few squats and warrior poses can come in handy in a dressing room?!

2. Rise in the waist matters

Very few adult women of a certain size and age can pull off low-rise jeans.  They tend to be the most unflattering around our midsection, causing the arch enemy … muffin top.  Elevate your look by choosing a mid or high-rise waist.  The higher waist is the most universally flattering.  A high waist also tends to keep everything in place.

Keep in mind most women have trouble with jeans fitting their waist.  The solution … shop for jeans that fit your butt and thighs first, and always get the waist tailored to get that perfect fit.  Simply adding a belt won’t do.

3. Choose the right silhouette for your body type

There are more options than just skinny jeans!  Don’t get me wrong, I love a great pair of high waist skinny jeans, however, they aren’t for everyone.  To achieve your best look, the goal is to accentuate your assets while downplaying challenging areas.  Skinny jeans don’t always fit that bill.

If you are more curvy and pear shaped, try a straight leg cropped hem instead of the tight and tapered.  If you’re petite, a high-rise boot cut jean worn with heels, or a cropped hem with a slight flare can elongate your legs.  If you’re lean and tall, a cropped boyfriend jean, or wide leg pair would look amazing.

There are so many options, just make sure to consider … does my body look balanced in this silhouette? At the end of the day, buy the best jeans you can afford.

As someone once told me, if you buy too cheap, you buy twice.  Instead consider investing in 2 GREAT pairs that may be more expensive, but are worth the investment.

As always, remember to wear what you love.  Elevated style doesn’t have to be expensive or fancy, it simply needs to be what is best FOR YOU!
